Women What Do You Think About...Pistachios?

As many of us know, if you don’t eat meat you need to get your protein from beans, nuts and so on. So I really liked the small hand size pouch of pistachios so when I was shopping and seen a huge bag I thought...This is great. I am getting more for a better price and this can add to my protein because I do go meatless often for long stretches of time. So overnight I went from having 3-7 nuts from a small pouch trying to make it last, for two weeks to having a handful 50+ more daily. Great increase in my protein right?! Yet after about a week I didn’t feel good, not like sick with a cold but like, I am cramping and my period is not due! So automatically I know my body, which I tell anyone who asks me about health, get to know you body intricately. Meaning understand what makes you tic, the good ,bad and ugly when it comes to food and people. I immediately started tracing my eating habits for the last two weeks because I had been buying new items to try from Big Lot’s, it has some good gluten free items and I went overboard so I checked  that first, to see that food haul on my YouTube channel C.LynnsArt of Cooking watch  here https://youtu.be/viTN01PRoEc To get to the point nuts can raise your estrogen levels! The pistachios were the only thing that I had eaten an increase of, so I was not new to this because I had this happen with broccoli so I started researching it...and it’s TRUE go figure they are the richest source of phytoestrogens among nuts do your own research but it let me know to eat these sparingly. I already have enough estrogen and can get quickly overboard so I know my body and I listen as much as possible because who wants to πŸ˜” feel bad regularly. Comment below if you have had a similar experience.

So women if you need estrogen look into it with your physician and if you got enough be aware of your intake, Happy Eating. Now on to the next blog post...

From Frozen to Grilled...Do this with your Stir Fry!

When I go grocery shopping I try to get items on sale and lately I have been catching the reduced salads as well! In one shopping trip I bought 4 reduced prepackaged salads and stir fry's knowing I could not eat them before expiring.... what to do?! I froze them! What?! Frozen salads? Yes, but if you try this understand that the salads are to be cooked not expected to be eaten fresh. This is how I made this tasty stir fry from frozen to grilled!

When taking out of the freezer, I don’t let it thaw. I take it out the package put it in a big bowl to rinse off the iciness under water, strain the water out and pick out the undesirable pieces. Then I take 2 large paper towels to pat the excess water out.

Heat your skillet or griddle which is what I used, to medium heat. Add salad immediately then add 2-4 tablespoons of oil, I used olive oil. Also add your seasoning of choice, my go to seasonings are Himalayan Pink Salt, Black Ground Pepper, Onion Powder and Oregano. Stir slowly flipping the veggies over here and there so they are not sticking to the surface. If they are sticking that means there is not enough moisture and add more oil a spoonful or two should do. As the onions start to become clear and the harder vegetables start to show some roasted color the dish is almost done. Now add the sauce, I added salsa instead of the package sauce, let that heat for another minute and then the meal is ready to be plated!

In all this took less than a half hour from frozen to grilled to plate! Catch more food content on my YouTube channel C.LynnsArt of Cooking, Watch and subscribe, follow me on Instagram @clynnsart for quick simple eater moments, Happy Eating!

Vegetable Belgium Waffles - Do you like Savory? / Plus a message to the crew!

https://youtu.be/yLJEKaKH9lk

I was gifted a waffle maker! Of course most may think, great sweet delicious waffles on the blog, probably...but not today. I made savory onion, tomato, garbanzo bean / chickpeas flour waffles with all my favorite seasonings! This is also gluten free and it was very tasty. I like ketchup as a dipping sauce others used ranch dressing and said it complimented it very well. This was only my very first one so I didn’t take measurements but I will be critiquing this to get the recipe for you all! Until then watch my YouTube video to get a better look at how great this came out, just click the link above or go to my YouTube channel C.LynnsArt of Cooking.

Quinoa What To Do With It? Well...

Instagram @clynnsart, YouTube channel C.LynnsArt of Cooking

When deciding to buy and cook with quinoa, to me there are some things one should know... start with the cheap box flavored mixes. Usually they are already seasoned, the directions are clear and these are a decent price. If after trying some of these you like it πŸ˜‚ and decide to go for the gusto and buy a bag of plain quinoa here’s my suggestions for newer cooks.

1) Get the tiniest strainer you can find because you will lose too much quinoa when you rinse it and it’s  not cheap.

2) Be patient and follow the directions. If the water is not soaking up you put to much in it.

3) Season it like anything else you season! In this dish pictured, I used Pink Himalayan Salt, Black Ground Pepper, Olive Oil,Oregano and Onion Powder.

4) Use it as a side dish like the picture or make it an entree by adding vegetables, beans and so on. I treat my quinoa like rice, so whatever I would do with rice I replace with quinoa.

Enjoy your quinoa! Happy Eating!

Use A Soy Free Meat Substitute, That You Already Have!

Instagram @clynnsart, YouTube C.LynnsArt of Cooking

When newly removing meat or lessening it out of your diet, it can be easy to buy the latest meat substitute. Many taste good but may have to much sodium, soy, coloring and more that may not agree with your health. I found out I have a soy sensitivity so I stop trying many brands, which in turn saved me money because many are not cheap! So then I realized my beans need to be thrown in where I would put meat, the top picture shows pasta that could of had hamburger in it, instead now it has seasoned Chickpeas! (Video on YouTube 10/6/20 afternoon)  Now with the bottom picture traditionally I would of put a steak or pork chop with onions and tomatoes πŸ… on top, now seasoned Chickpeas are the star! This method applies to ALL your favorite beans, the key is use the same or similar seasoning you would of used on the meat for the beans! So steak seasoning, poultry seasoning use it and beans are staples so they are more than likely already in your cabinet so savings all around. Happy Eating! Now on to the next blog post,
